South Park Public Park and Public Urban Realm Project

Galway City Council and the Design Team received valuable and useful feedback from stakeholders and the community during the first public consultation in January and February 2025.

We analysed this feedback and have developed

9 concept designs for the area: 

• 3 concepts for South Park; 

• 3 concepts for the Claddagh Basin; and 

• 3 concepts for the Celia Griffin Children’s Park.  

The Information Boards presented on this website summarise the results of the first public consultation and present the 9 concept designs.  

The Community Survey is where you can provide feedback on the 9 concept designs for the area. We encourage you to read the Information Boards before completing the survey (see links above to the Information Boards and Community Survey). 

We would also like to invite you to a ‘drop-in’ public consultation event on Thursday 28th August 2025 (1pm-7:30pm) in the Galway City Centre Library (see link above for more details about the event). 

We want to hear from everyone in the community. Your input will help shape the future of the area, ensuring it serves the needs of the local community both now and for generations to come.
