Welcome to the Public Engagement Platform for the South Park Public Park and Public Urban Realm Project
Galway City Council and the Design Team have continued to progress the design of the South Park Public Park and Public Urban Realm Project. In particular, the Design Team has carefully reviewed the feedback received during the first and second non-statutory public engagement periods, undertaken detailed site investigations within the South Park lands, and coordinated closely with the An Coirib go Cósta Flood Relief Scheme project team. The work of progressing the design and coordination with our partners is ongoing to ensure alignment between these significant projects.
We look forward to returning in mid-November 2026 with the next phase of non-statutory public engagement, where we will present the penultimate design for South Park. We currently anticipate lodging an application for planning approval with An Coimisiún Pleanála for South Park in early 2027. Penultimate designs for the Celia Griffin Children’s Memorial Park and the Claddagh Basin area (including Fishmarket) will be advanced separately and are anticipated later in 2027.
It has been a privilege to work with the community and stakeholders in progressing the penultimate design for South Park. The feedback received to date has made a valuable contribution to the evolution of the project, and we look forward to sharing the next stage of the design with you in mid-November.
